Land

Our stage was lodged with the LPI on 1.10.13...
and now it's REGISTERED!!!!
Yay, can't wait for things to start happening now.
MJH have had 7 months to have the plans ready for council but as of last week they are not :(
I hope our CLO makes ours a priority and gets them submitted asap!
I was really hoping for a slab before Christmas, but that looks like it's not going to happen :(
But i'm glad it's finally getting closer!!!

Green Stuff

I just retuned from a drive to our lot. We have green stuff over the mud! I think it's called spray grass. Not too sure but it looks pretty cool. I guess it's a quick way to grow grass. Better than all that mud!
I also grabbed a map of all the future MJH designs which will be built around us. It's nice to see that we have three smaller houses to our right and then another 'Nova'. Not sure whats on our left. It's a bigger block so I'm hoping it's not going to be a double-storey, guess I'll have to wait and see.
Everything is coming along quickly now and it might only be 3 or so more months and we might get to see something happening for us! Dare I say we might even have more than a slab by Christmas :) Hope council doesn't hold things up.
I took the camera this time and got a few shots of the green stuff and nature strip :)

Grass and a Tree!

I went for a quick drive yesterday to see whats been happening.
We have grass and a tree planted on our nature strip. The footpaths are completed across the road. I'm glad we won't have a footpath on our side, less dog poo on our lawn, lol.
I spoke to the lady in the sales office and she said our October registration could be September! Yay. Sorry no photos yet, didn't have my camera on me. I'll add some soon :)

Road update

Well we were able to drive down to our actual block last weekend! The gate was open, so we took it upon ourselves to use it and drive on the newly finished road to where we will live. The kids were very excited to be able to see it up close instead of from afar.
It was a huge mud pit and we stressed to the boys "do not step in it". Of course number 3 lost his footing and landed one food in. That mud is really hard to get off. Not sure if he will be aloud out of the car next time, lol.
They haven't finished the footpaths in our section yet, but it doesn't look too far off.
We are still on track for October registration apparently. It's exciting to see so many future neighbours getting their houses up, we can't wait till we are at building stage. Just hope and pray it's not going to be too stressful.

Anyway here are a couple of pics of the 4 (faceless) boys in front of out lot!

If we had stairs

I so wish we could have a beautiful staircase like these ones!

I would seriously consider the slide as well. Hurry up kids and get in the car... weeeee!

First Post...

Hi I'm Joh,

My husband and I are at the beginning stage of building (and owning) our first home with our four boys. We have decided to go with a project builder and do a house and land package with a 5% deal as it will be the easiest and most cost effective way for us to build at this stage.

We are building near Wollongong with McDonald Jones Homes. After looking through a few display homes and choosing what things we would like most in our home we decided on a modified Nova. We didn't have much choice on house design that would fit on our block as it's very small only being 420sqm :( We will only have a small yard but figured our boys are getting older and will be riding their bikes around the streets more than playing in our yard :)

We have done a few variations to the plan including 9ft ceilings, extending the width and length; and a few other boring details. Here are our plans so far, although they will be re-done soon I'm hoping.

We have done all our colour selections and electrical appointments. Paid our 5% deposit and our contract has exchanged. Now it's just a waiting game until our land gets registered in October this year.

Our lot is way down the bottom...

Here are some of our colour choices and design ideas. Some things we will be doing after handover such as rendering, changing all door and cupboard handles, lighting, painting bathrooms, plantation shutters and a few other things we didn't (couldn't) do through MJH.
